Meet Brushwell: North Pole Photographer and Yearbook Chief

Portrait of Brushwell, the North Pole’s chief photographer elf, wearing a festive red and green striped vest, red knit cap, and carrying a crayon and paintbrush in his pocket. He smiles warmly against a background of pale blue snowflakes.

North Pole Chief Photographer & Head of the Yearbook

If you’ve ever spotted an elf dangling from the rafters with a camera or hiding behind a mountain of gingerbread for the perfect candid, you’ve likely met Brushwell, the North Pole’s beloved photographer and keeper of the yearly North Pole Yearbook. Brushwell brings magic to every snapshot—sometimes a little too much magic, thanks to his fondness for running every photo through the infamous Arctic Illustrator, also know as AI (much to Mrs. Claus’s, and the inventor’s, mild frustration).

Brushwell works for the North Pole News, capturing everything from Santa’s serious “list-checking” face to the sparkle in a child’s eye at the annual snowball toss. With a crayon and paintbrush forever tucked in his vest pocket, he’s creative, gentle, and famously patient—except when waiting for reindeer to hold still.

Known for being bashful, Brushwell has been quietly courting Tilda from the Candy Shoppe for what feels like forever. He’s patient, sweet, and waiting for the right moment (and a touch of courage) to ask her to marry him. Friends say they always know when Tilda’s nearby—the air smells just a bit sweeter, with a hint of peppermint behind her ear.

Brushwell’s favorite color is candy cane red, and he dreams of one day capturing the “perfect Christmas morning”—where every elf, reindeer, and snowflake is just where it ought to be. He’s trusted, kind-hearted, and as likely to snap the most magical photo of the season as he is to deliver a shot with everyone’s eyes closed. No matter the result, Brushwell’s pictures bring joy—and a few giggles—to every corner of the North Pole.
